I'm a Woman; I can do that

I'm referring to when I change my mind. In an attempt to simplify things and focus my efforts where they are needed most, I won't be having a "Blog Bash" in October. Don't cry. I'll still give stuff away and maybe introduce you to a character or two. It's just going to be SIMPLE style. Sound good? Sounds great to me. Have a fabulous day! (I laced this post with magic so that you really do have a fabulous day.) Because I'm a woman; I can do that.

The Lucky Winners

The lucky winner of the gift card is Wendy. Congrats to you! (And Happy Birthday!)

And the even luckier winner of the Cinder and Ella t-shirt is Judy. Seriously, they're awesome. People stop and stare and have this expression of 'Wow, that is a cool shirt. Cinder and Ella? I wonder what that is. I'm intrigued to the point of being entirely distracted. What was I doing again?'

I think I'm addicted to giving things away so look for more giveaways soon. October is the Cinder and Ella blog bash, so come back and try to win more cool prizes and meet the characters of Cinder and Ella.

On September 11, 2001, I woke up to enjoy another day with my 3 mo. old baby. But early that morning, my husband called from work, telling me to turn on the TV. I spent some time glued to that television, experiencing emotions I had never felt before: hatred, unimagined fear, a profound patriotism.

I left my home to drive to downtown Salt Lake, needing the comfort of having my husband with me. The world had stopped. He came home with us and our thoughts turned to other family members. Luckily, several members of our family who had been scheduled for flights home that day had never boarded their planes and remained safely on the ground.

Activites that had been scheduled: cancelled. I remember fixing dinner for a few family members that night and we ate mostly in silence. I remember feeling things I couldn't express. I remember being unable to pull myself from the TV, needing to suffer along with those who really were. Faith deepened, compassion increased, loyalties solidified. I cried. It took years before hearing a plane overhead did not cause a tightness in my chest and an anxious look upward.

Would I give my life for my country? Yes.

The Winner...and some other stuff

Thanks to everyone who entered the contest for the $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble.  Man, people like free money to spend on books--me included.  The winner was selected through and notified through e-mail.  Congratulations Beverly Gordon!

Here are a few more things that I'm just stinkin' excited about:

  • Let the countdown begin!  The release of Cinder and Ella is soooooo close.  I'm thinking a blog bash would be appropriate.  Look for more giveaways, character interviews and blog tour re-visits throughout October.
  • The trailer for Cinder and Ella is soooooo close to being finished.  Wow, what a job.  And I didn't even do anything except say "Yeah, that's great" and "Maybe change that."  Here is a big shout out to the animator Dan Brown and the music man Rob Willardson!  You guys seriously rock!
  • The launch party for Cinder and Ella is scheduled and in the planning phases.  If you live somewhere near the Rocky Mountains, I hope you will come.  It will be a blast!  For other events and signings, check out my events page for updates as the weeks go by.
