Strawberries From Heaven

It's grocery shopping day, which is a little overwhelming for me fight now. Partly because I'm not quite 100% after my injuries, partly because deciding what to cook, how to cook it, where to buy it, and everything else involved in feeding a family of 5 is always overwhelming.

As I sat at the computer, checking out recipes, I decided to look for a freezer jam recipe. Strawberries are in season, and strawberry jam is on our shopping list because my family loves it and eats a ton of it. It seems like we're always out. I found a recipe and decided that I would make it rather than buy jam.

I continued on with some menu planning and shopping list preparations until there was a knock at my door. I looked through the peephole to see a familiar face. A woman from my church. I opened the door and what did she have in her hands?

Seriously. That's what she had in her hands. The exact amount of strawberries for me to make some freezer jam for my family. I was so touched that I cried a little. Because along with the sweet woman standing before me, I saw God. I heard him sending a message just for me. "I thought you could use these strawberries. I am thinking about you today. I want you to know that I love you and am aware of every little thing in your life. Do not doubt me. Do not be afraid."

Thank you, Sister Umstead, for bringing me strawberries from Heaven.

What I've Been Up To

I sort of fell off the planet for a while. I mean, not really. I saw that Sandra Bullock movie and that didn't actually look like fun. But I entered a world of obsession called "find a house" (which wasn't a lot of fun either) and I've been there for months. Well, hopefully that was successful. We found a house, made an offer, offer was accepted, inspection is later today. Fingers totally crossed. Seriously, I can be really obsessive. And ultra focused on something so that other things sort of spill out of my brain. It's all good. I still feed my kids and stuff so I'm not too worried about it. I love how Jesus taught Mary and Martha "One thing is needful." (See Luke 10:42) I've been thinking about that a lot lately and trying to focus my thoughts on God. It works. The unnecessary things and the unimportant things (which is sometimes blogging) fall away and I am totally okay with that. So, what else have I been up to? Falling. Ouch.

But today is the first day I'm walking normally for the most part so that's exciting. Another exciting thing that happened recently is that I decided to homeschool my kids beginning this coming school year and from then on. That was a big decision for me. In my mind, it's always been a question of when, not if. I did it for a year several years ago and that was a good trial run. Now I'm ready for the long haul. I thought about it for weeks, read some articles on common core and watched the documentary, listened to my children, observed the classroom, visited two homeschool families, and it is time for my family to take the plunge. I really am so excited. I've watched my philosophies on teaching and learning emerge and I know what I want to give my children. It's going to be awesome. I'm just hoping I still have some time to write books. :)

That's an update for now.

Oh, and I think I've picked a date for the release of Sleeping Beauty and the Beast. How does June 25th sound? Can't wait!!

Cover Reveal

I'm so excited to share this with you. Check out the awesome cover for my latest book done by the talented Cindy Canizales.

Look for a release mid to late June.

Here is the synopsis:

Trapped in a cursed sleep, the only experiences Princess Eglantine has are the ones in her dreams. There she meets Prince Henry of Fallund, a neighboring kingdom on the brink of war.

Meanwhile, Prince Henry's brother Duncan discovers a vicious beast imprisoned for murder. Captivated by her, he works to free her from both the prison bars she's locked behind and the ones surrounding her heart and mind. Sleeping Beauty and the Beast seamlessly retells and intertwines the classic stories of Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.
