Melissa is the 4th of 5 children and grew up in Draper, UT. The first stories she wrote were in elementary school. She loved to read these stories out loud, or hear her teachers read them out loud, and see her classmates laugh and the smiles on their faces as they listened. That's when she first fell in love with writing.

As a child, Melissa developed a love of playing ball. She enjoyed mostly softball, but also played basketball and volleyball. She can even throw and catch a football pretty well. As an adult, Melissa also discovered racquetball. While she still enjoys playing sports now and then, her current favorite exercise is walking.

At the age of 14, Melissa began working for a local school district cleaning schools in the summer. Having a talent for making things shine, she continued cleaning through high school and her first and second year of college. While Melissa lived in Colorado, she also had a few clients that she cleaned house for. She is happy to report that the only toilets she cleans now are her own.

Melissa began playing the cello at the age of 8. In her teenage years, she began learning the piano, and in college began learning the guitar. She still plays all three instruments and teaches private music lessons.

Melissa spent her first year out of High School at Snow College where she met Ryan. He is the one who helped her trade in a maiden name that nobody can pronounce or spell, for the name Lemon, which oddly enough, the majority of people also cannot pronounce or spell.

After getting married, Melissa and Ryan attended the University of Utah for a few years where Melissa received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing. The next several years were filled with lots of schooling and the births of their three children.

During all of these crazy adventures, Melissa kept a journal and notebook where she practiced expression in the form of writing and brainstormed ideas for books. Her first book, Cinder and Ella, was published in 2011 by Sweetwater Books, an imprint of Cedar Fort, Inc. Snow Whyte and the Queen of Mayhem was published in 2012 by the same company. Blue Sky was independently published in February 2013 and Sleeping Beauty and the Beast was independently published in June 2014.

Melissa is currently taking a hiatus from writing to further her education.
